From cabinetry and counters to lighting and layout, Oakstone also remodels kitchens for homeowners who want a space that works as well as it looks.

Planned the Same Way Every Oakstone Project Is

Cabinetry, counters, and layout changes are planned the same way our bathroom work is: measured carefully, documented, and finalized with you before anything is ordered. That matters more in a kitchen than almost anywhere else in the house, because cabinetry is made to your measurements and a cabinet run ordered a half inch out is not a quick fix.

Bathrooms and windows are our primary focus, and we say that plainly rather than presenting ourselves as everything to everyone. We are glad to talk through a kitchen project during your free consultation and to tell you honestly if what you want is outside what we are the right people for.

What Drives a Kitchen Timeline

Kitchen-remodel timelines vary based on the project’s scope and complexity, considerably more than bath, shower, and window work does. The main factors:

  • Cabinet lead time. Usually the longest single item, and it is set by the manufacturer rather than by the installer. This is why kitchens are planned weeks ahead rather than started quickly.
  • Whether the layout moves. Keeping the sink, range, and refrigerator roughly where they are keeps the project in one trade. Moving them brings in plumbing, gas, and electrical.
  • Countertop templating. Stone counters are usually templated only after the cabinets are physically installed, then fabricated, then returned to be fitted. That gap is normal and worth planning around.
  • What is behind the old kitchen. Older homes turn up outdated wiring, or a floor that is no longer level once the old cabinets come out.

Where the Money Actually Goes

Homeowners are often surprised by which decisions move the number and which do not.

Moving plumbing and appliances is the biggest single driver. A kitchen that keeps its existing layout and changes everything visible is a very different project from one that relocates the sink to an island.

Cabinetry is normally the largest line item in a kitchen. It is also where the widest range of options exists, from a full custom build down to refacing sound existing boxes.

Countertops vary widely by material, and the practical differences matter as much as the look. Some materials need periodic sealing, some are more forgiving of a hot pan, some are much harder to repair if chipped. Worth discussing against how you actually cook rather than against a showroom sample.

Lighting is the most commonly underestimated item and one of the most noticeable when it is done well. Task lighting over work surfaces changes how a kitchen functions far more than its cost suggests.

If You Are Not Replacing Everything

Not every kitchen needs a full renovation. If the cabinet boxes are structurally sound and the layout genuinely works, replacing doors, hardware, countertops, backsplash, and lighting will transform how the room reads without the cost and disruption of a full replacement.

Whether that applies to your kitchen is not something anyone can tell you from a photograph. It depends on how the existing boxes were built and what condition they are in, which is a five-minute assessment in person.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a kitchen remodel take?

Kitchen-remodel timelines vary based on the project's scope and complexity, considerably more than bath, shower, and window work. Cabinet lead times are usually the longest single factor. Your specific timeline is reviewed during your consultation.

Is the design consultation free?

Yes. Oakstone offers a free, in-home design consultation to discuss your project and review your options.

Are bathrooms your main focus?

Bathrooms and windows are our primary focus, but we're glad to talk through a kitchen project during your free consultation.

Why does moving the sink or range cost more?

Because it means moving plumbing, gas, or electrical, and sometimes all three. Keeping appliances and the sink roughly where they are is the single biggest lever on the cost and length of a kitchen project.

Can I keep my existing cabinets?

Often, yes. If the cabinet boxes are sound, replacing doors, hardware, and countertops changes the look of a kitchen substantially for a fraction of a full replacement. Whether yours are worth keeping is something to assess in person.

Will I be without a kitchen the whole time?

For part of it, yes, particularly between countertop template and installation. Planning a temporary setup is worth discussing at the consultation so it isn't a surprise mid-project.

Are you licensed?

Yes. Oakstone Kitchen and Bath LLC holds Tennessee license

Do you offer financing?

Yes. Financing options are available to qualified homeowners. See the financing page on this site for details, or ask during your free in-home consultation.
